Why we made it this way
Six to twelve months is when a baby stops only looking and starts moving objects on purpose. The hands can hold, the fingers are learning to let go, and almost every new skill arrives through repetition that looks like nothing much from the outside. We built the barn around that stage rather than around a theme.
The handle matters more than it sounds. A barn that can be carried moves with the baby between rooms, which means the toy keeps working in the kitchen while dinner happens and on a blanket in the park, not only in the corner where it was unpacked.
Parents tend to use the mat first and the barn second. For a baby who still tires quickly on their front, the printed mat gives something to look at close up; the animals come into it a few weeks later, once reaching across the body has become easy.
